The versatility of UltraGLOSS™ goes beyond its glossy finish. It is compatible with a variety of clear materials and proves to be an ideal choice for the production of dental occlusal splints, clear earmoulds/earshells, lenses and visors. The wide compatibility of the material not only expands the scope of dental applications but also represents a significant advance in efficiency and accuracy.

Matthias Zimmerer's review: A leap forward in splint manufacturing

Matthias Zimmerer, renowned application engineer and certified exocad trainer at Schütz Dental, shares his experience with the UltraGLOSS™ build tray. Achieving a glossy finish on 3D printed veneers has traditionally required careful manual polishing, a time-consuming process prone to variability. However, with the introduction of the UltraGLOSS™ build tray, this cumbersome step becomes obsolete. By simply changing the resin container, the shiny splints are produced directly in the 3D printer, which saves time and ensures unrivaled consistency in accordance with the geometry.

Zimmerer used the new Detax Freeprint Splintmaster TAFF material to print the splints. Subsequently, the splints were washed in IPA and cured in NK Optik Otoflash.

Case study Dr. Kasena Somana: Paradigm change in splint production

In a convincing case study, Dr. Kasen Somana, Principal Dentist at Signature Dentistry, Australia, delves into the transformative impact of UltraGLOSS™ on in-practice veneer manufacturing.

In a recent case study, a 34-year-old woman was seeking aesthetic improvements, desiring sharper upper canines and a whiter smile. When she decided on 10 porcelain veneers and 2 resin veneers, her history of bruxism presented a challenge. A flat occlusal splint made of Keyprint KeySplint Soft material was chosen to suppress the effects of bruxism.

Veneer printing using Asiga Max and UltraGLOSS™ build tray has proven to be transformative. The imprinted plate showed a precise fit with minimal discomfort and required little occlusal adjustment. With minimal manual work, the splint was ready within a day. This simplified approach not only improves the efficiency of the procedure but also contributes to better patient compliance, which ultimately increases the lifespan of the dentures.

This case study shows how technology, coupled with innovative materials such as UltraGLOSS™, is redefining splint manufacturing, emphasizing efficiency, patient comfort and restoration longevity.
